However, 4k is hyped up a LOT, so in a sense it is a marketing gimmick.
4k means there are 2 times more pixels in each direction compared to full hd.
full hd has 1.5 times more pixels in each direction than 720p..
Will there be 8K Blu Ray?
8K blurays will never arrive for one very good reason. There is not enough space on a bluray disk for an 8K movie. An ultra HD disk holds about 66GB of data. An 8K movie using the same compression scheme used today would need around 264 GB’s thus you would need 4 disk to watch just one movie.
